  • Wrote custom slogan for branding
(Maria’s Custom Fashions can make something fitting for you!), and positioned at top of every page.
  • Created banner top, including fabric details.
  • Photo-editing. Because I had to work with existing photographs (my client moved out of state), I scanned the photos, resized and cropped them, and performed photo-edits to greatly improve their colors and overall clarity.
  • Image Gallery (see Samples page) with flexible user navigation using Javascript-DOM.
Allows users to click a gallery thumbnail image and view an enlarged photo on the same page; if users have Javascript blocked, the links will still work, but simply open in another window.

  • Judicious use of white space on every page, to prevent a gray-page-look that could result from a mostly text-based site.

  • Custom button interfaced with PayPal for credit card payments.

screenshot of web site section, LBD: Local Business Directory

Web Design Features

  • CSS for styling and fluid layout.
  • HTML 4 (when most sites were still HTML 3.2)
  • Frames-based, to keep all user-interaction on same page (as SEO was not important for this section of the site).
  • Custom link buttons back to three main areas of the CQLinks site.
  • Scrolling right-side section for viewing vendor information.
Some vendor listings, for higher contributors, include links to their websites.
  • Non-scrolling category heading on the right, to help the user remember the current category.
  • Conditional Javascript listbox menus on the left.
Selectiing a category in the first listbox determines what displays in the second listbox.
